I Want to Become a Christian
The most important and decisive prayer that any person can offer in their entire life is to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
There is a separation between God and humankind that we call “sin.”
The only way to overcome this separation is to accept for oneself the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross on our behalf. Every person must do this personally and take it upon themselves in a fully conscious and active way.
It is a free offer that God gives us, but we must actively accept it in order to have eternal life. This does not happen automatically or through any rituals; rather, it is a decision of the will. You must actively accept it for yourself in prayer through a “prayer of commitment,” in which you personally claim the death and sacrifice that Jesus made for you.
If you'd like to do that, I invite you to pray with me now.
The Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I want to give you my life.
I hereby acknowledge that I am a sinner who has no way of standing righteous before You or of coming to You. I am separated from You.
But through Jesus Christ, you have cleared the way for me to come to you. And I now accept this for myself. I accept that Jesus lives for me, that he died and rose again for me. I accept Jesus’ sacrificial death for me, which he endured on my behalf on the cross.
I am now deliberately taking advantage of this for myself.
Lord, I repent for the things I have done wrong, whether knowingly or unknowingly. I ask you to lead me into a process of purification, sanctification, and your blessing. I want to live differently than I have lived so far. I want to live in a way that is pleasing to you.
I'll give you my life.
I accept everything that Jesus has done for me. I accept Him as my Lord, Savior, and Redeemer.
In the name of Jesus, I declare: I am now a child of God. I am redeemed. I now have a victorious life here on earth, and after I die, I will have eternal life in God’s presence.
Amen.
If you prayed this prayer with faith and from the bottom of your heart, then you are now a child of God. You have been born again, and your life has been completely transformed. You may not notice this right away in your circumstances, but spiritually speaking, something completely new has come into being.
With that in mind, I’d like to warmly welcome you to the house of God. I’d like to congratulate you on taking this step, and I want to tell you:
God has so much more in store for you than you can imagine!
Here are some Bible verses on this topic:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel: it is the power of God, that saves everyone, who believes in the Jews first, but also in the Greeks.
Romans 1:16
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for he is Lord of all, and he is generous to all who call upon him; “for everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:9–13
But they said: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.
Acts 16:31
