Many people struggle with the problem of thinking incorrectly; they have patterns of thought that do not align with God’s Word and His promises.

These are patterns of thought that they adopted at some point—perhaps as early as childhood—and that are simply wrong. They lead these people down the wrong mental path time and time again.

You can think of it like water finding its way down a mountain. The first drop flows, and then it keeps going and going. Eventually, a deep, carved-out stream has formed, through which the water flows down all on its own.

It's kind of the same with our thinking. The first time, it might just be a coincidence, but eventually it's like a tunnel through which our thoughts automatically flow in the same direction over and over again—and yet they're completely wrong.

Maybe when you were a child, people told you—for example—that you were worthless, that you couldn’t handle it, that you couldn’t do it. That’s a pattern of thinking that you’ve adopted, that you believe, and that shapes your entire way of thinking: “I can’t do it anyway!”

But that's wrong. It's not in accordance with the Kingdom of God. It's not what God says about you. He says: You are more than capable of doing this, because I am by your side.

And whatever your thought patterns may be, I’d like to invite you to pray with me so that you may be freed from false patterns of thinking.

The Prayer

Dear Lord,

I come to you as your child. You know where my thinking is wrong, where I have allowed myself—consciously or unconsciously—to think wrongly, where my thoughts keep veering off in the wrong direction.

Lord, I ask that you intervene in my thoughts and help me think according to your Word. I ask that you transform me through your Spirit so that I may think in accordance with what you say. I want to think the way you think about me, the way you think about my circumstances.

I ask you to enter my thoughts and make them in accordance with the Kingdom of God. Lord, I cannot do this on my own. I need the power of your Spirit to do so. And I allow you to bring this about in me through your Holy Spirit.

Lord, I want to think the way you think. I want to be set free from all thoughts that keep me trapped in addiction, in bondage, and in unhealthy patterns of behavior—from things I cannot free myself from on my own.

I want to think in a way that pleases you. And I ask you to guide me in that direction, to grant me that gift.

I come to you empty-handed. There is nothing more I can do in this matter, but I ask you to help me in a supernatural way.

In the name of Jesus.

Once you have prayed this prayer, I am sure that God will help you enter into a completely new way of thinking. It is important that you fill yourself with the Word of God, that you read the Bible, and that you allow what is written there to take root in your mind.

When you say, “I am weak!” the Word of God tells us that the weak can say, “I am strong”—in God.

When you say, “I am poor!” the Word of God says that you are rich and can do all things—in Christ.

And so the Word of God is something you urgently need so that we can think correctly and in a way that pleases God. I want to encourage you to go deeper in this area so that you can enter into the right way of thinking that God has prepared for us—for a life of victory, joy, and fulfillment that He has in store for us.

In that sense, I truly believe:
God has more for you!
